Boulder Hill Weekly Update
Finally, we are one unit – the whole unit, campers, and staff alike has officially moved into Boulder Hill. Along with this, Teenside has fully transitioned to a choice model, meaning that each camper gets to choose what they want to do from a wide array of fun activities that vary from day to day! Campers now have the option to choose between a variety of activities including dance, archery, J-time (Jewish), boating, water Bounce, Culinary, tennis, sports, Art & Crafts, Teva, Adventure, fitness, and Drama. Aside from choice and specialty, every day so far this week has been full of egg-citing egg-tivities, such as Egg Day, wherein the campers not only got to ‘adopt’ and care for their eggs throughout the day, but also did relay races, egg tosses, and an egg hunt. The campers even got to crack the eggs over the staff’s heads at the end! Everybody had an absolute blast with it.
Earlier in the week, our unit was finally able to have a real overnight spent within the actual woods. We built a huge fire in the middle of A-trail in cohesion with our sibling unit, Merrylane, and shared stories over toasted marshmallows and s’mores. That night, it truly felt as if we were ‘nestled ‘neath the shady tree,’ as the song says, as we all slept underneath the green skyline of the Sherwood forest.
We also loved the Maccabi Games, a mini-Olympics activity that all the campers have looked forward to. In the end, to top it off, our Teenside Israeli staff took it upon themselves to plan a Jewish holiday-themed event. Campers played various games and learnt directly from the Israelis. Keep an eye out for the pictures!
