This morning, a little less than 200 campers and staff laced up their shoes to compete in the 2019 Obstacle Fun Run. There were campers, counselors, guppies (our youngest day-campers) and supervisors taking part. Teenside campers took off first, and Mainside followed suit one minute later. Each runner had a number to help track time.
The course started at the Mainside Canteen with colored powder canons starting the race. Participants ran towards the main office, down to the ball fields where they were met with their first obstacle – a blow up bounce house. They ran towards Mainside Arts & Crafts, down Lakeside and through another bounce house obstacle. Racers ran up towards the Waterfront, past Journey’s Way, beyond the Eddie Cantor Theater and over to Teenside. They ran up towards the Teenside Dining Room, turned around to head to the Teenside Ball Field where they completed their third bounce house obstacle, and back towards the Eddie Cantor Theater, to the finish line.
Campers and staff members who didn’t race, cheered along the sidelines throughout the entire run. The course was a total of 3 kilometers.
Along the course, you’d find counselors running with campers, siblings joining hands to complete the race together and friends keeping pace with their running partner. A few staff members dressed up in silly outfits like onesies, tutu’s and we even spotted a banana suit.
We are sending a big congratulations to all of the finishers! Below are the winners for each unit.
