Harry Vogel Tribute
One of the ways that Surprise Lake Camp is celebrating its 120th Anniversary is by honoring its Administrative Director and longest running staff member, Harry Vogel.
Harry has been involved with camp for over 70 years and counting! Some will remember him (and his speedo!) for his countless years on the waterfront, training lifeguards or tearing up the lake on a windsurfer or sailboat. Others will recall his distinctive holler on Arrival, Departure, and Visiting Days, riding around camp in his jeep, or his coordination of winter camp groups. A rare few might even remember him from his days in the camp kitchen (Harry’s first job in camp when he was 16!). Most of us remember his spirit, his energy, his zest for life, and his love of his wife, Bobbi, and daughters, Joanie and Missy.
Please help us honor Harry! What we are asking from you is to send us your stories, kind words, well-wishes, and photos of the legendary Harry Vogel. We will compile these messages and photos into a special photo book to present to him later this year.
Additionally, if you wish to make a contribution in honor of Harry, we thank you in advance for your generosity, and encourage you to make a gift to endow the Harry Vogel Mainside Waterfront Director position.
Thank you for making this year an extra special one for both Harry and SLC.
