Journeys Way had an adventure filled week this week. We had a hike to Bald Spot with Whammy where we stopped along the way to see and hear all of the sounds that nature has to offer. The kids were able to hear the birds chirping as they were surrounded by trees, and of course, we cannot forget about Whammy’s infamous trail mix! We stopped to take in the beautiful view of camp from above ground and the kids were captivated by the view of the lake, pool, and the Eddie Cantor Theater. They even yelled “We’ve got the Spirit” to Sheryl and they were met with a response!

Yesterday, our evening activity – MasterChef  – was led by our amazing Israeli counselors Noa and Inbar. The kids were broken up into four teams, and spun a wheel which determined the amount of time they got to go into “the cage” –  which contained various ingredients to make a biscuit cake which will be constructed on Saturday. When each group answered a trivia question correctly they got time to collect all the ingredients as fast as possible and get back to their team. Everyone was working together to answer the trivia questions correctly and cheering on the other teams as they ran to collect ingredients.

Another highlight of this week was Arts and Crafts. J12 spent their rest hour painting their clay creations and sculptures that they made. They are also learning how to make friendship bracelets out of rainbow loom, lanyard, and string. Yesterday was also Israel Day! The kids dressed up in their blue and white demonstrating their pride for Israel. They participated in a boot camp obstacle course where they weaved in and out of various obstacles as they were met with water guns and water balloons. They also made their own pita bread with Nutella by the fire, and they ate Halva, an israeli snack. They learned Israeli dances led by our dance specialists Omer and Noam, and they painted their faces in blue and white, colors of Israel and SLC! It was a pleasure seeing all of the kids get creative and running around spreading their love and passion for Israel and the camp community.

We are looking forward to a jam packed week next week filled with a carnival and egg Olympics!

Shabbat Shalom,

Lara, Unit Supervisor, and the entire team.
