Mainside Boys Weekly Update
This week saw a period of transition for all of camp. Sadly, we said goodbye to some of the friends we made this summer — but the fun has not stopped. All of the boys were ecstatic to make the move into Mountainview Lower for session two. Bigger bunks and shorter commutes to activities and each other have translated into more opportunity to bond and create classic camp memories that will never be forgotten.
This week both Lower and Upper Senior boys got to put their role-playing abilities to the test during LARP (Live Action Role Play) with Neil! LARP is always so popular because kids are able to take the skills they have developed playing video games during the year and apply them to an active, real-life situation. The kids had to work together in order to defeat a common foe: myself, Neil and their counselors. Watching the kids strategize in order to accomplish this shared goal was a sight to see. After a scary war-cry, the kids ended the battle victorious!
The theme of this week is developing bonds between the boys. With smaller groups, bunk changes and new activities, the kids have been able to get to know each other on a much deeper level. I know this trend will continue for the next few weeks, but it is great to see how well everyone is handling the start to a new and exciting session!
