Merrylane Weekly Update
This week was the best yet. The weather has finally started to stay nice and we have really been able to get into the camp groove. The kids have continued to bond and make great memories. One of the many memories from this week was our unit campfire. We all went around the unit to collect firewood. Our campers gathered around the campfire and we all worked together to get the fire started. After a few tries and some staff member help, we got it started and we sang songs and roasted marshmallows. It was great to see!
Another event that happened this week at camp was the All Camp Show. The kids put on a performance of Hercules. It was amazing as all of the camp watched and cheered them on. After the show was over our camp olympics broke out and we divided the campers into their teams at the theater. We then went right into our burn the rope event. Each team of campers built and started a fire – the winning team was the one whose fire burned through a rope first. The next morning we had team meetings to have them go over their songs and cheers and sign up for the events throughout the day. We ended the day back in the theater where the teams sang, cheered and show the judges their dances and plaques. They did an amazing job and everyone enjoyed the day. I was blown away by how much each team was cheering on the other teams and while we all congratulated the red team – it was clear that everyone had an awesome day.
I hope everyone is having a great summer!
