Sherwood Week Two Update
This past week at SLC has been jam packed with lots of sunshine and exciting activities, just as we had hoped after all the rain.
We began the week with a unit hike to the legendary Cornish Estate, during which the returning campers jumped on the opportunity to share the tale of the ruins with the new campers. It was incredibly heartwarming to witness our campers helping one another on the hike, singing their favorite songs as they went, and exploring the estate together.
Our overnight quickly followed on a perfectly cool night. Our unit took the A-trail up to a cozy clearing in the trees where we shared stories, songs, and laughter over a barbecue dinner and a campfire, where campers were roasting marshmallows for one another. The fun continued as we settled down for the night – the campers spent the rest of the evening making bracelets for each other and stargazing.
Ultimately, our week culminated with a carnival, wherein campers enjoyed racing each other to see who would be the first to pie the other in the face with shaving cream, running through inflatables, and helping each other place temporary tattoos on. Afterwards, our campers made us very proud by making cleaning up all of the fields and grounds on which they had just played their priority.
Coming up, our unit will be preparing our performance for SLC Sing and we absolutely cannot wait for everybody to see!
