Sherwood Weekly Update
Wow, what a week it has been!
There have been so many amazing activities going on that it has truly been difficult to keep track of them all. Our week started with preparation for our upcoming Sing competition, where all units across camp will gather to perform to a song of each unit’s choosing, with the common theme of this session being ‘universe.’ Spoiler alert: Sherwood’s song this session will be Starships by Nicki Minaj, so keep your eyes peeled 😉 Our choreography was designed completely by the campers, and they did a fantastic job of collaborating with one another to create it, as well as in taking the lead to teach one another the dance.
After much anticipation, we finally had the all camp show, which, this session, was Hercules! The performance was truly jaw-dropping, and both a literal and figurative spotlight was shown upon the talent and passion of all the actors, actresses, and stage crew. Our own Sherwood campers filled many of the roles and made us all intensely proud.
Immediately after the show’s conclusion, Olympics broke out, and the excitement for the following day was palpable. As per tradition, the entire camp was split up into teams of red, black, blue, and white, with this year’s theme being the 80’s. Groups from all across camp came together in their respective teams to achieve victory, despite being from different units. Each team put in an extraordinary amount of effort into all of the different competitions, ranging from sports to creative efforts such as designing banners and creating dance routines. In the end, of course, there could only be one winner; this summer’s victor turned out to be the red team. All teams and groups showed great spirit and sportsmanship in celebrating with the winners the rest of the night.
Last night we had Club Surprise, a banquet thrown by the Leadership campers, and, given that the theme this evening will be the 70’s, I expect that there will be much disco and partying going on.
Later today will be this session’s last Shabbat services, and we will be having the SLC Sing and Slideshow on the eve of Departure Day.
