Highlights of the Day:
Shabbat Shalom from the lake! Tonight our campers will gather on their sides of camp for Shabbat candle lighting, dinner and services. With sun-kissed cheeks and tan skin, their white shirts look brighter. After a full week at Camp, it’s safe to say we’ve all adjusted nicely and are getting used to the busiest days we’ve ever had.
This weekend, we will celebrate the first of our Camp Bar and Bat Mitzvah’s. Nearly every Shabbat service for the rest of the summer, campers and staff members will have the chance to read from the Torah. Camp means so much t0 so many campers. It’s where they grow, where they make friends, and a place they can’t imagine living without. Our team of Jewish Living & Learning Staff makes the occasion very special to each person. Some staff members, who are far beyond 13, choose to have their Bar or Bat Mitzvah’s at Camp because it’s something they never got to experience when they were of age. SLC gives the opportunity to anyone who wants it, and for that, it’s a very meaningful moment.
Please remember, there will not be a What a Surprise post tomorrow in observance of Shabbat. We will see you, on Sunday. Shabbat Shalom!
