Schedule

10:00am SHARP: Hikes begin
Hike Choices:
Sugarloaf/Breakneck: Difficulty Level is very challenging. This is for very hardy hikers who have hiked Breakneck before (required) and feel they can handle even more. *Please note we expect this hike to take 5.5 hours. The path starts towards Bald Spot. We don’t turn onto Jacob’s ladder, instead we continue straight, cross the Breakneck Ridge Trail, and follow the dirt road down the hill in the direction of Pete Seeger’s house. Then we will make a left onto the Yellow trail (Wilkinson Memorial Trail) The Yellow trail goes over Sugarloaf and ends by Breakneck. We will then follow the White trail (Breakneck Ridge Trail) over its various peaks and return to SLC via the partially marked Blue trail over Hudson Overlook and Bald Spot.
Bull Hill/Mt. Taurus: Difficulty Level is medium to challenging, including some inclines. It takes approximately 3-4 hours. It’s not a rock scramble like Breakneck, just a good old-fashioned climb with several fantastic views and points of interest along the way. This is a beautiful spot, and a choice place to view Crow’s Nest and Storm King Mountain on the other side of the river.
Breakneck Overlook Loop: This mid-level hike has the glory of climbing Breakneck Ridge (this is the 4th peak of Breakneck) without actually climbing up the rock face. We will take a scenic, fall-foliage-filled walk in the woods through Cornish, climbing up the mountain towards this overlook, loop around to Hudson Overlook, and then come back down into camp. Approximate time hiking is 3 hours. You must be able to walk 20 minutes up an incline without getting short of breath in order to choose this hike.
Cornish Discovery: Learn about our historic Northgate ruins led by local expert, Thom Johnson. Thom will share images of the original Cornish estate and impart his knowledge about its fascinating history and connection to camp, and also inform participants about recent developments and clean-up efforts in the area. Difficulty level ranges from rustic, unleveled roads to mild inclines.
