Spring Hike Day 2023

Join us for a wonderful spring day of hiking around SLC with your family and/or friends!

The cost for Family Hike Day is $25 for SLC Alumni Association Members and $30 for non-members.

($100/$120 for families of 4 or more)

A light breakfast is included.

All proceeds will benefit Surprise Lake Camp.

All hikers MUST register in advance (see form below).

Schedule

9:00am: Check-in begins/Light breakfast will be available
10:00am: SHARP: Hikes begin

Hike Choices:

Breakneck Overlook to Hudson Overlook:  Led by Whammy. This moderate hike has the glory of climbing Breakneck Ridge (this is the 4th peak of Breakneck) without actually climbing up the rock face.  We will take a scenic, walk in the woods through Cornish, climbing up the mountain towards this overlook, loop around to Hudson Overlook, and then come back down into camp.  Maximum hiking time is 5 hours, including time for lunch.  You must be able to walk 20 minutes up an incline without getting short of breath in order to choose this hike. 

Cornish Discovery:  Led by Jeff Berk. Explore our historic Northgate ruins.  Difficulty level ranges from rustic, unleveled roads to mild inclines. This is a great option for families with children. Maximum hiking time is 3 hours, including time for lunch.

Please Remember:

• All participants must register in advance (see the form below). If you have not registered in advance, you will not be allowed to enter Camp.
• Each family must fill out their own registration form. You may not register for another family.
• Please provide cell phone numbers for each hiker who has their own phone (for emergency purposes).
• Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
• Buildings at Camp will be closed except for bathrooms and dining hall in the Main Building.
• Hike Day is for people hiking only.  Please do not come to camp if you do not plan to hike. 
• Sorry, NO PETS are allowed at Camp.
• We strongly suggest you pack lunch and snacks for your hike.
• All participants must bring an ample supply of water.
• Dress in layers. It can be quite chilly in the morning, and will likely warm up
  throughout the day.
• Bring a camera for great photo opportunities!

  I, the undersigned, intending to be legally bound, hereby for myself, my heirs, executors, and administers waive and release any and all rights and claims for damages I may have against Surprise Lake Camp and all sponsors and their representatives for any and all injuries suffered by me (and anyone else in my party) in said event. I attest and verify that I am physically fit and am prepared for this event, and that my physical condition has been verified by a licensed medical doctor.
